Magnet Care Guidelines for Vehicle Application
For best results and longest life of your magnet you should follow these guidelines. Failure to follow these instructions could result in damage to your vehicle's paint finish or magnet.
Before placing your magnet on a vehicle:
1. Pick an area to display your magnet that is not on a horizontal surface exposed to direct sunlight, such as vehicle hoods. Long term use on surfaces exposed to sunlight can result in uneven fading of the surface area because the magnet is shielding the sun's ultraviolet rays.
2. Application area should be all metal, flat or gently curved. Do not apply to an irregular or highly curved surface such as trim molding, etc. The magnet will not stick to areas that have body fillers, simulated wood grain siding, fiberglass, aluminum and some repainted surfaces.
3. Be sure all surface paints, clear coats and waxes are cured or hardened. Paint takes a minimum of 90 days, clear coat 60 days and some waxes 2 days to cure. Application of a magnet during the curing phase, can result in damage to the finish.
4. Clean and wax the area of the vehicle where you are going to attach the magnet. If applied, wax provides an extra layer of finish protection.
5. We also recommend that you remove the magnet frequently to clean and inspect the vehicle and magnet contact surfaces.
